  1. Okay i got a XVID encoded movie that is not synced...

*At first the audio is around 2.68 seconds late, then it slowly resyncronizes, then it slowly becomes 1 second late.*

Soooo how the heck im i suppose to fix a audio sync problem that is both ahead and behind the video???

i extracted the audio to a .wav from VDub and it was the same length as the video - 38min 51secs...

I also noticed it was 25fps... is that normal??? I have a Ntsc tv and all..but on the computer is shouldnt mattter ..right?

I also used virtualdub mp3 freeze to scan for bad frames ,,.... but it said there wasnt any...

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

P.S. this is the correct spot to post this, right? if not lmk

did vdub tell you you had an audio problem when it opened the file? if so put your audio in full processing mode then check 44100 16 bit stero then save new wav and use it. the new wav should be then same length as the original but now will have a constant bit rate.

  5. no it didnt, but i will try that anyways...
it was originally 48000Hz but i will try to save it as 44100 16 bit stero ..

I tried to just recompress the audio, but it always froze at the 9995 th frame.... i tried to mask from 9900 to 9999 but it still froze @ 9995...
I tried just recompressing the audio as mp3 whatever bitrate (i think 128kb/s) and from frames 0->9990 and it appeared synced!! but i couldnt do the whole thing... it always stopped... and gave this big error report thing....

I'll let u know if the extracted 44100 wav works when i try to recompess that to mp3 with the video. SO ill extra 44100 wav (uncompressed) then load the movie back in and select wav audio and recompress it to mp3.. and direct stream the video...

    [edit]
Nope it didnt work.... still freezes at the 9995th frame

I uploaded crash report from Vdub is here -http://www.patmedia.net/daveoskin1/crashinfo.txt

I also tried to reinstall the xvid codec, but the same problem arose.
i also updated to the newest Vdub version, but i still get the same error.

Although I don't know the answer to your problem, I have a somewhat similar problem. I downloaded a movie that is encoded with XVid, and the sound is slightly delayed from the video, and I think that it is pretty much constant throughout the movie. I have never had to mess with this sync stuff, so if you have a relatively easy explanation on how to fix this, it would be EXTREMELY helpful. I've worked with TMPGenc, and know that there is a way to adjust the audio with this program, but TMPGenc wants to ouput a file which is about 12GB, as opposed to the original 800MB. Thanks in advance!

  8. Yea i honestly think it has something to do with the xvid codec...
THe error in Vdub says something about xvid.... i uploaded the error report ^up in one of those posts...

I might try to burn it and play it on my ps2 with the mediaplayer... which was what i was trying to do in hte first place... maybe the codec thingy will play it in sync on the mediaplayer....

Really wanted this movie though.. and only have 4 cd-r's ... that i dont want ot waste....

Actually now that i think about it there are 3 different binaries of Xvid that i know of
    Nic's binaries: http://nic.dnsalias.com/
    Koepi's binaries: http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/
    uManiacs binaries

so maybe i need to just try a different one....

I'll try the uManiacs and tell u if it worked...
I think i have koepi's or nic's now, so ill try a different one...

well, going by a huge captured vid i recently tried to squish and it all went wrong, something to try:

dump out the audio (direct stream..). dont bother converting, it'll be coming back in in a minute.

work out what the initial delay is. choose to restream the AVI, using WAV audio - the one you just created as source - with direct copy on both audio and video. have the audio interleaved with the sufficient (negative?) delay to correct it. now if you test it should start perfectly in sync and slowly end up about 3 and a half out.

use a stopwatch and figure out just how badly out of line it is by the end of the film. divide the apparent length of the audio into the apparent length of the video (at whatever reference point you use, eg some easily timeable sound even just before the credits - on a movie like ice age, the point where the coconut hits the sand is good..) to get a 0.9xxxxx or 1.0xxxx style fraction.

Now, load the remuxed video back into virtual dub. Using both the "original" vid and audio (AVI audio) and direct copy, simply change frame rate to 25 divided or multiplied by your number (result needs to be lower, if the audio lags behind the video, or higher if its running a little too fast) and save it again. VDub will just change a framerate flag in the header rather than re-encoding, and with any luck, this new and mildly nonstandard new rate will play properly and keep the audio in sync all the way through.

It's just a pain in the backside if you want to code it to VCD later... then you have to decide between ocassional framedrop/duplication (maybe one per minute), or ripping out the audio to change the speed.

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

  10. thank you very very much for replying..i might try that..but im already downloading the movie again from a different source... so i might not need to even both with the original xvid again...

Thank you very much though... i might need the infomation u posted on other videos later...

  11. ok i ve had that problem and solved it: its quite easy, i didnt read all the posts but the i read u had a xvid audio/video sync problem. i had it to. first thing is to forget vdub mp3freeze, i used it 2 and became out of sync. there is another way to encode it. i use AVI2SVCD (or DVD2SVCD depends how u want to call it, in the tool section here) and that program automatically splits an avi (no matter which codec) in to several parts. u can chose that under bitrate tag. ok, again: use AVI2SVCD to encode ur FULL movie. it splits ur movie in to 2-3 party. these will be out of sync but wont be gradually more and more out of sync but i guess about 2 sec. it would also be a great help if u told me what movie it is!? ok, u have then 2-3 parts. then u use TMGenc file<tools< (De)-multiplex (i cant remember which one) to extract audio from video. https://www.videohelp.com/faq.htm#repairmpg or for gradually sync probs https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/78944.php it tells u everything u need. if u still dont manage it then look on this forum i dont know which section but make a general search for sweet home alabama audio sync problems etc. u will find a thread with a good description to solve the problem.
i hope i could help u. if u have anymore questions dont hesitate to ask via ICQ 117459137

PS: it wont make a difference if u download it a second time!!!
