My baby brother *Threw* my pS2 on the floor yesterday and now I cant get any games to start.

It keeps on saying Disc Read Error.. . . .

I know its a laser problem but whats up?

No, there werent any pieces broken...apart from the drive sticking out a couple of centimeters. but thats about it.

No, I havent sent it any where and the warranty is gone...
Do i need a laser calibration or a new laser cuz i cant play any games nor can i play commercial DVDs.

  4. unlucky m8-if it was justting out a bit after he "dropped" it then it could be more simple- just a lose connection, take it in and get sum 1 to look at it, but shop around so u dont get ripped off m8

how much does a replacement laser cost...also the calibration...?

  6. no idea im afraid m8, to replace the lazer would prob be very expensive, not much of a demand for them as they v rarely go wrong, it may even be more cost efficiet to sell the ps2 for parts and buy a second hand 1, just get a quote from an electricians or a pc service

  8. You can light a candle to St. Anthony and yell at the console for a while. But I haven't had success with either of these methods when mine fell.
You can get a pretty new one for about $130 on eBay.

is it definately the laser, maybe the motor's gone, or the data cabling, or some of the chips, or..

my suggestion is to put an ad out to locate Fat Bastard and offer to swap him that little brat of a baby bro in exchange for a new PS2
