I am using Gordian Knot with Divx 5.05. Is there a way to adjust the settings to perform my encodes with a single pass only so as to reduce the amount of time it takes to encode?
If so, will doing single pass have a huge impact on the quality of my resulting AVI? I am currently using the setup parameters from the DOOM9 DVD to DIVX guide, resulting in 2 passes which take aprox 3 hours to encode 50 minutes of DVD video on an Athlon 1.8.
I realize that there are many variables to getting good quality. With the 2-pass, I can get a 50 minute TV episode @ 350mbytes with great quality. If I can get similar quality using single pass, and only taking half the time for the encode, that would be even better.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i hope your useing at least godian knot .28 beta(haven't checked if there is a newer ver)which is updated to work with divx 5.05
have Nth pass checked.
for the Nth settings change it to 1-pass
1 pass wont make a "huge impact on the quality"
each pass it will make it a little better and closer to the size you want. -
They are up to 0.28 v2.1 click here for a full list incuding the codecs.
