I am authoring a disc in Sonic Scenarist 2.6, burning the master with Gear Pro DVD using an A03 drive.
I have gotten APS Type 3 protection to work correctly, and I am not going to bother with CSS. However, I would like to add CGMS protection. I've turned on "No copying" in my VTS, and burned the disc. However, it doesn't seem to work. This type of protection should prevent me from copying the contents of the disc to my hard drive, correct? But I am able to copy the disc to my hard drive! What am I doing wrong? Or do I not understand how this copy protection works? Will CGMS not work if authored on general use media?
And yes, I do understand this protection can be easily broken with freeware programs. However, clients don't always understand how easy it is, or don't care and still want to use this protection.
Also, does this type of copy protection require purchasing a license as Macrovision or CSS does?
Thanks a lot.

unless you are using media center - you can copy to your hard drive - just not copy to another dvd burner .. (in theory - some burners dont do this properly anyway)
