I'm trying to change the fourcc code on a AVI file to the Canopus codec CDVC so that I can open it in Virtualdub.
Virtualdub allows me to open an AVI already captured with a Canopus card. Below is what I see when I open the file with avic.

    FourCC Description Code CDVC
    FourCC Used Codec @
(Note the square box above appears as a bold bar '|' in the avic field, I cut and pasted from there to the topic window)

When I open the non Canopus codec AVI I see

    FourCC Description Code dvsd
    FourCC Used Codec ÿÿ ÿ

So I update the 2 fields above to CDVC, apply and quit. If I then open the file in Virtualdub i get the error message
'Couldn't locate compressor for format 'dvsd'.
Opening the file again in avic shows me CDVC in both fields.

I can open both AVI files in Tmpgenc.
    Can anyone advise please.

I can use the Canopus DV file converter to convert the AVI and then it loads into Virtualdub. But that takes time and extra disc space for 2 files.

Any help in getting AVIC to work would be much appreciated.

The file is AVI type 1. If I convert it to type 2 AVIC then works and I can open it in Virtualdub.
