I'm frameserving (with a resize filter) from VDub to TMPEnc, and my source is an SVCD - NTFS Film (23.976 fps)
The only problem is, whenever I load TMPGEnc's NTFS Film SVCD template, and then look at the settings, the Frame Rate is set at "23.976 fps (Internally 29.97 fps) " and is greyed out so I can't change it.
Why is this? I even tried installing TMPGEnc Plus on another virgin machine to check, and this happens whenever the "SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf" template is loaded.
This then causes my encoded file to have stuttery camera movement.
Help!! I know I can choose File > New Project, and then I could change the Frame Rate to be correct, but this then loses all the other important SVCD NTFS Film attributes and settings.
Any input much appreciated.

When the wizard comes up, simply cancel it. Then, select "load" on the main encoding screen and load the "unlock" template. (You will then be able to modify the settings.) Then, change the framerate and select "save", so you can save your new SVCD template! Change the file name slightly, so it will not overwrite the original template.

Excellent, thanks.
Do you know why it's locked at that strange setting as an installation default in the "NTSC Film Template"?

You can also unlock individual settings by positioning your cursor over the words "frame rate'' in the video tab of the settings window. Just place your cursor over the words "frame rate" and you will see them raise up. Click once and a drop down box will appear with the words "lock" and "unlock." Just click on unlock and the grey will disappear allowing you to change the frame rate. It works with other settings too.

Perfect.
By my reckoning, this actually means that the TMPGEnc template is correct - that is to say, the proper setting for NTSC Film is "23.976 fps (Internally 29.97 fps) " ?
'Cos when I unlock it, it warns me that this makes it 'nonstandard' and so on.
Anyone know?
Thanks for your help, mate.

NTSC (film) is 23.97fps with 3:2 pulldown flags added so that the DVD player will play it back at the correct NTSC framerate of 29.97fps. This is the correct way of handling film for NTSC playback and so yes, the TmpGenc template is correct. If this results in jerky playback, you could try encoding at 23.97fps (video only) and adding the 3:2 flags using pulldown from the tools section.
