  1. Is it possible to convert a .ogm file to a SVCD using ffmpeg? If this is possible what do you need to do to make it work...?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Have not done much with .ogm files

heres some info on them http://ld-anime.faireal.net/guide/ogm-en
im sure you can hunt around for some more.

I would try opening the .og file with video lan to see if it will even play!
if not, i bet you will have to wait some until that file is supported more in OSX.

Conversion may be possbile, depending on if it will actually PLAY!
try that first and post your results.

If it does play, try renaming it to .avi and running it through ffmpegx for SVCD standard settings, and see what you get.

Id wager to say your in experimental territory here.

OGM is supported in VLC 100% --- even multiple audio and subtitle streams.

However, the conversion is still lacking heavily at this time... I would imagine that if demand increases, so will development.

The Matroska format is looking pretty juicy right now, and I have a feeling that once it is usable, it will put an end to .OGM and .AVI containers.

  5. i have no problems viewing the file. I want to re-encode the file to SVCD. Basically it's been beyond frustrating trying to do this. It's impossible to do on a Mac...! Which I've come to realize.

So I threw in the towel, and used a PC . Even then it's a bitch too do!

Whoever came up with this god-for-saken format deserves to be shot!

Agreed! It is a Great idea though... It is perfect for multilanguage movies and people interested in subtitle streams. It will be no problem converting the .ogm format to ANY other format once it supported in Mplayer.

    Im just waiting for matroska.
