  1. Hi people I have been trying to convert divx movies to SVCD, I alwas find that there the movie will have like an jaggedness or is not smooth stops for a couple of split seconds here and there (not sure of the techinical term).

I have followed the guide and have found that most movies i try to do from Divx to svcd give me the same problem. Sometimes it will happen after every 5 seconds or so the picture will stop for like a split second and carry on doing it through the movie. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

many Thanks tou you all for your help

  5. This divX is being converted to VCD the FPS is 23.976 and i have not messed around with the output of the frame rate. The directshow setting is at 1, I dont know if this has anything to do with it. The film is watchable but the motion is jerky which is really irritating. I cannot notice it on 25FPS movies, but it does happen now and then. I have tried to extract audio using Vdub like explained in one of the guides here, still much the same.

If your 25fps (PAL) play smoothly then why not convert your 23.976fps (NTSCfilm) movies to 25fps before encoding....I do this with every 23.976fps movie I get, because I too find that 23.976 plays back jerky.

Follow the instructions I give in this post:

You might think it looks hideously complicated, but after a few tries it really is quite simple to do, and only takes about 30 mins extra in preparation time.

i've also noticed that some dvd players cannot play 23.97 without the 3:2 pulldown.

  8. Guys thanks for all your help. I managed to sort out the problem. I had DirectShow setting at 1 so I decreased it to 0 and extracted audio using VirtualDub, tested on DVD player, works wonders. Strange but I did not think that would sort it out. The jerkyness was on the PC by the way. I did not test it on the DVD player until the jerkyness was gone away when viewing it on the PC
