  3. well i am trying to do that now and i cant get it to fit 99% of the cd, it doesnt let me reduce the bitrate more than 1600. it gives an estimated file size of 834MB and 106% of cd space. can i reduce the bitrate more or should i join the 2 .avi's and make it a 3cd SVCD?

You really don't want to reduce the bitrate below 1600 anyway...the results will be crappy.

I've made SVCDs of these 2 file DivXs many times...and what I tend to do is make them 3 disc SVCDs.

First of all work out the length of the entire movie (both parts). Then divide the time by 3 to get the length each disc should be....you now have 2 choices:

Either join the 2 parts together with Virtualdub and then just encode in 3 parts with TMPGenc....or encode 2/3 of the first part (svcd disc 1), then the last 1/3 of the first part, then 1/3 of the second part and finally the last 2/3 of the second part (svcd disc 3)...then join together the two 1/3 parts to make svcd disc 2. (use TMPGenc's MPEG Tools to join).

I've done both ways and there isn't any real difference in time saved in either way. I always use the Batch Encode feature to prepare all the parts for encoding, then let them all encode overnight.

Theoretically you could reduce the bitrate below 1600 by using the unlock feature in TMPGenc to make it fit on 2 discs.....but as I say, the quality will be very poor...much better to make it a 3 disc SVCD where you'll probably be able to set the bitrate around 2000 or more for each disc. I find 2000 to be very nice quality.
