  1. OK im getting very sick of problems with DVD authoring programs.

When i create a DVD in SpruceUp now, it creates fine, and it plays ok, except for ONE thing.

When it first plays, for about 1 second, the picture will only stretch to one of half the TV screen and after that 1 second it stretches out to fullscreen properly. Also when fastforwarding, the same thing happens, while it is fastforwading, the picture streches to only half screen.

Seriously, is there actually any half decent DVD authoring software out there? everything i've tried so far has been hopeless.

Sounds like you have a problem with your DVD player.

Check disc on another player. If same problem, be sure you have DVD-compliant video files.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  4. Yes they are DVD compliant video files. The unusual thing about it is that when i use these SAME video files in another authoring program, this doesnt happen. its ONLY with spruceUP that that would suggest the problem is with spruceUP.

  5. What are you using to burn you files, since SpruceUp has a bug that will not allow burning from the program itself.

Are you burning the Disc image or Tile set to a disk?
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  6. What resolution are your video files?

I haven't had any trouble with 720x480 files in SpruceUp.

I once tried to include a 352x240 file on a DVD which also had 720x480 files and the video would not play on my DVD player - only my computer. I think there is a problem with SpruceUp related to having mixed sized video. That might be something to look into with your problem.

  7. the size of the video is 352x576.
    just something to note.

whenever i create an audio_ts & video_ts folder, and burn with nero, this happen regardless of the specs of the video.

when i use a program like ulead mf2 to burn straight to cd, this doesnt happen.

i can't properly burn a dvd with nero, could it have to do with the udf settings?

So this is probably a Nero problem, not SpruceUp. Have you tried creating a DVD image instead with SpruceUp and then burning the image with DVDDecrypter? Works for me every time.

Mornin' (well it is here )

This will happen if you author with Spruce UP and play back on some DVD players. The problem is in the IFO files not specifically telling the DVD player that HEY this is half D1 (352 x 576 in the PAL world or 352 x 480 in NTSC land), so the player starts playback assuming its full D1 720 x 576 (480) and so fills only half the screen, after a few moments it realises its half D1 so stretches remaining playback to fill the screen, hence the lag.

I found the same problem when I remastered some Enterprise trailers from quicktime downloads into 352 x 576 mpeg 2 files and added them in spruce UP.

    There is a solution though.

Use spruce up to generate the titleset then use ifoedit, (available from the tools section or www.doom9.org) to open the ifo files in your titleset and make sure you set the size to 352 x 576 (or 480).

Then either use imgtools to generate an image ready for burning or burn the titleset using your normal software.

I know this works on pioneer 530 units which demonstrated the same issues going from menus to 352x576 video however the more recent pioneer 350 didnt have the problem in the first place, (although I still check this in ifoedit if using spruce UP for compatibility)

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

  11. nope that didnt work. i don't know if i am editing the right files or not, but i changed the values in the IFO file to 352x576 and it didnt seem to do anything.

The thing is when i create a title set using DVD MF2, this doesnt happen. It scales to the screen properly.

But when i open the IFO files from a Ulead DVD MF2 title set in IFO edit, they also say 720x576 instead of 352x576?

Am i changing the wrong settings or something?
