    1. WHAT'S THE BEST DVD-9 to DVD-5 software out there, which gives top picture quality without picture stutter/pause/jump/pixels problems.
I've used DVDDecrypter/DVD2ONE and 5 out of 10 had above picture problems, when played on my PC or Standalone DVD Player.
PLEASE NOTE: This problem never occured when I used DVDXCopy (1 or 2 discs)!!

    2. NERO vs PRIMODVD/RECORDNOWMAX.....Which software is compatible with most Standalone Home DVD Players !!!

I HOPE SOMEBODY WILL FIND A MINUTE TO TELL ME HIS/HER OPINIONS

    PLEASE HELP.........THANX...........

  2. IMO none of the programs you listed produce "picture stutter/pause/jump/pixels problems". As for quality I don't see much difference in any of them but others will swear that Instant Copy produces the best picture quality (maybe they think if a program takes forever to do it's thing it must be better).

DVD2one = Fastest of the bunch. I use this more than the others because I could care less about the menu, extras, FBI warnings, or advertisements on most commercial DVD's.

DVDshrink = FREE need I say more? Also has some nice features for editing , re-encoding or authoring. I use it a lot but not as much as DVD2one.

DVDX Copy Xpress = Very Nice program that makes backing up you DVD collection a simple point and click operation. I use it about as much as DVDshrink (movie only).

Instant Copy = Anything but instant. Some here believe this to be the best program since DOS. I don't use it at all anymore.

Much of it comes down to personal preference and the equipment you have to watch the movies on.

I have tried all the programs apart from dvdxcopy and on my meger tv I can not see anything between them.

It then comes to a time versus control and I think dvd95copy is the most progressive piece of software, bugs are fixed and new versions come out pretty quickly.

Digimedic will respond to personal emails about problems and failures.

  4. Here's my opinion (note: no one else's just mine..take it for what it's worth ..not much).

    Quality..from best to worse.
    1) CCE 95%....used for 5.5GB and above movies...that I can't get a level 1 or level 2 with dvdshrink and output close to 4.10GB.
    2) IC7 85% ...go less than 75% picture quality I notice some tiny artifacts
    3) DVD95COPY 70%
    4) DVD2ONE 65%
    5) DVDShrink 65%.

Now how can I say DVDShrink is like 65% and still use it? Simple...I wouldn't use it on a 6GB movie which most like would have to be reduced with a level 3, 4 or 5. DVD95COPY, DVD2ONE, DVDShrink and just fine on the average movie if the vob files size isn't that big

So what do I use? I use dvdtoolbox or dvdshrink first to see if I can't strip out extra audio and choose main movie only to see if I can't get it below 4.37GB and keep 100% video quality.

Failing that I try DVDShrink and see if I can't get it to level 1 for a quick reduction. Quality is great..for the most part. Level 2 I'll do if it's a so and so movie but if it's great I won't do it.

Then if the above two don't work then I'll use dvd2dvd-r and encode with CCE for best output.

Everyone is different, some don't want to tie up their computer for long periods of time, others watch movies for movies and not for quality comparisons, etc. These are my methods and I'm sure yours are completely different.

  5. Hi,

What i use most is DVD95Copy. This is because it's quality is (far) better than DVD2One and DVDshrink. The quality comes close to Instant Copy 7 but it re-encodes way faster (about 3x on my pc). And Instant Copy 7 seems to give some problems when erasing complete vob sets from a dis you DO want the menu and some selected extras on. This hasn't accured to me yet with DVD95Copy.

Further more i just started using DVD2DVD-R. It works simulair to DVD2SVCD, but then for DVD-R... duh
It uses CCE for re-encoding the video which just preduces the best quality. Escpecially when using Multipass VBR encoding (I mostly use 5 Pass)
Down side about this program is, it doesn't let you do the whole disc. Just the main movie. Which is a problem when doing Series etc.

Hope this helps you a bit.

  7. DVD2DVDR can be found here:
    http://www.dvd2dvd-r.de/

Although the site is in german, the program is in english (Except for some typo's :P )

Also you will need to register to the board there in order to download.

The program is fully free !!! Although the CCE isn't and there for not included...

This topic has been beat to death on this site and it all comes down to personal preference...

You need to ask yourself some ?'s before deciding on one or two:
    1. Money - do you buy a prog or use freeware (DVDShrink)
    2. Time - some are much quicker than others
    3. Quality - some output better quality than others

Depending on your answers to these questions, you should be able to narrow it down to one or two of these progs.

IMHO - they are all good at one thing or another and I would suggest trying them all, then settling on the one or two YOU LIKE best.

Simply by asking this question on this site, is not going to give you a definite answer as everybody on this site has a different opinion about the DVD to DVD-R backing up...
    Use what works for you...
