I am looking for a program that will accept 2.35:1 aspect ratio to convert to divx or any non dvd. Everything I have tried ends up out of sync, which I am attributing to this aspect ratio.
I am new at this, any guidance is needed.

It is very unlikely that your aspect ratio has anything to do with a synch problem... unless you're unknowingly changing the frame rate of your video during a conversion.
More information about your processes is really needed to troubleshoot this but I'll go out on a limb and assume that you're ripping a DVD and that the 720x480 file doesn't "look" right. (aspect ratio)
If this is the case, I recommend ripping the DVD, using DVD2AVI to create the project files (.d2v and a WAV file for audio), using the VFAPIConverter to create a pseudo avi of the d2v file, loading the pseudo AVI and the WAV into VirtualDub, resize to correct proportions and encode your divx.
Make sure to check out the frame rate of your file while in VirtualDub and make sure also not to change it when creating the Divx. This is my best guess based on the info available in the original post. The inverse may also be true when/if you're converting your audio. I'd still recommend the above method.
If my guess was wrong then ignore everything here. You probably already knew all of this anyway.

I can't thank you enough Nitemare for taking the time to help out. I'll try it now.

No problem! I just wanted to mention, if converting your WAV to MP3 for your divx file, make sure to use CBR (constant bit rate) and NOT VBR (Variable bit rate). This will almost always cause a synch issue. It "can" be done, but most people use 44,100-128kbps CBR MP3 for their audio compression.
If you still haven't gotten it, please post your attempted methods in any future posts. Then you'll probably get a HUGE response from this board. These guys ROCK!
Keep us posted!
