I have downloaded this divx movie. Everything is perfect except it has subtitles (translation of what has been said in the movie) in German language at the bottom of the screen in every frame in the movie. I can understand the movie because it is in english but i just find this extra writings at the bottom very annoying. For me there is no use for it. therefore is it possible to get rid off the subtitles in the movie so it would look like as its original release? please help and thanks![]()

hi,
I believe DVD2One is for DVD conversion only....
If the DivX movie exists only of a .avi file and not extra files for the subs, you can't just remove them. There are hardcoded in the movie.
The only way to "get rid of them" would be to re-encode using virtual dub filters te blur and fade out the subs. But this doesn't look that nice...

If the movie is in widescreen and the subtitles are on the black bar at the bottom, you could create a blue bitmap with a black bar at the bottom (the same height or lower as the one in the movie) and import this and the movie into Adobe Premiere, then use chroma-keying to merge the two. (see adobe help for this, as I can't remember how to do it off hand). Then export the movie to a new file.

Or, given that you have black borders containing the subtitles couldn't you use Avisynth to crop it and the add the borders again? Should be no sign of subtitles then.
I have no experience in this. Just guessing.

The Blind leading the Blind.
Assuming embedded subs in a DivX (you didn't say anything about an external sub file) you have 2 choises.
If the subs are in the movie area, your hosed. They can be removed but not by you.
If they are in the bottom gutter area (black bars) you can remove them easily. In AVISynth or VDub you simply crop them out with one filter then re-pad with black the same area. You have to re-pad to maintain aspect ratio.
The trick is to do it without re-encodingTo Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
