  1. Hi

Anyone found out how to use the 2 pass vbr conversion using the new Divx4 codec with TMPGenc.
Have very succcesfully used TMPGenc, using the d2v and wav files generated by dvd2avi, and simply using the 1 pass option offered by the divx4 codec compressor and mpeg-3 audio, to generate a divx avi.

Cant work out though how to use the 2pass vbr option ?
Anybody done this --- any ideas??

    thanks in advance

PS: I know there are probably other methods but I like TMPGenc

You can not use TMPG's 2pass VBR option for DivX. This is for MPEG only. If you select an AVI output, you can only configure the codec. Watch out for Nundub.

  3. you have to use "2-pass, first pass" at first with the settings you want and then encode the movie. after this finished you must encode a second time but now with "2-pass, second pass" with the same settings.

Thanks for your help here....you are absolutely right...just found out myself by carefully reading the help files that came with DivX4, which I should have done in the 1st place !!

Truman........guess you may have been confused a little in the posting. TMPGenc is only being used as the "vehicle", and I am not trying to use its own 2passVBR encoding. The Divx4 codec provides its own 2pass system.

Nidoran.......how do you do this, have you done this ?

PS : tried a quick 2 pass sample and it works very well giving excellent results.....a bit of fine tuning now !!

    regards
