  1. The sound works on my PS2, so I know the disk works, but when I try on my Toshiba SD200e / Sony STR-DB930 system, I get no sound. The amp doesn't seem to register a digital stream from the DVD player, but I'm not entirely sure where the problem lies - any ideas?
These are home made DVD-R's by the way...I'm going to try AC3 sound to see if that makes a difference next, but authoring software support for AC3 doesn't look great - ULEAD doesn't like it, and Spruceup seems to be locking up when I try to import a stream with AC3

Remember that US DVD players are not required to play mp2 sound. PCM or AC3 (and DTS, but I believe it only has to pass it through to a DTS receiver) are supported. If you player can't play SVCD's , then it most likely won't play MP2 audio.

    Does it play mp3's?

  3. thanks for the info

my dvd player does not play svcd's, you are correct I guess this is where the problem lies then. It doesn't play mp3's either

I've just been playing around with lfoedit, ulead and spruceup, and none of them seem to like authoring a video file with AC3 format sound I don't suppose you have any experience of this and/or possible solutions?
