Hi folks!
I got an .avi film which has the format 512x400. Length 1:21:40. I use the greatest proggy on earth for encoding: DVD2SVCD.
1. I didn’t use any special settings for DVD2SVCD (beside bicubic resize). Does DVD2SVCD resize the movie without cropping something or does it cut some lines? Using Windows MP the picture is distorted but with my standalone it doesn’t seem so. With TMPEGEnc I figured out that the picture is distorted (I got cone heads) but now it seems OK, but I’m not sure.
Does it also work with 512x384, 704x544 and 400x304?
2. After transcoding I got two files. One is 800MB, the other 600MB. Why doesn’t DVD2SVCD use two times the whole 800MB as I told it to do? The settings are:
So I think it made one 50min CD and one 32min CD and not two 40 min CDs whitch must have greater bitrates. Am I right?
Here is an cut-out of the LOG-file:

Diver,
Will try and answer all questions.
As far as I know it will not crop the image when resizing but I have never had an input of 512X400?? DVD2SVCD may not be able to do that ratio if it does not recognize it. The forums at doom9.org will be probably more help than here though if you get really stuck.
The reason you didn't get 2 800Mb files is because your bitrate is too low.
Keep your bitrate higher then you will get 2 800mb files. Put your avg. @ say 2600 - 3000 and max. @ 4000.
hope this helps somewhat. All I've got in this world is my balls and my word.....

Hi jnk76
Thanks, but:
DVD2SVCD has no problem with the size. But I don’t exactly know what it does with the picture. There also is the resizer. I must have a closer look to it.
Do you know some software which spreads the picture to fullscreen and crops it at the both sides? So I can “enlarge” the picture to lets say 19:9 and forget the left and the right side.
If I increase the bitrate it won’t be conform with the standard, am I right? And if I enter just some numbers the movie perhaps won’t fit on two CDs!?
So is there another tip?

Diver,
As far as I know DVD2SVCD will just stretch the picture....it will not crop it. TMPGnc should do that for you. As for bitrate.....I thing you had chosen 480X576 which will have a limit......If you are doing DVD then it can go up almost 10MB/s.All I've got in this world is my balls and my word.....

OK Thanks for the help.
So I have to make some further tests.
