THe subject line says it all...
No it doesn't. Some possibilities are:

    -too high bitrate
    -too low bitrate
    -bad media
    -too fast burning speed
    -DVD player firmware problems

Have you encoded your SVCD yourself (do you know which settings were used for the encoding). Have you burned the SVCD yourself? Software, burner, speed etc?

  3. Framerate is the most common but witthout details of your files and methods you will be hard pressed for a concrete response.

    Gee, where to begin?

    1) Too low a bitrate (over 45 minutes/CDR, or minimum bitrate too low- some need 500-900 as a minimum)
    2) CBR (depends on the movie and source)
    3) Noisy Source (DivX/XviD sources or captures)
    4) Too High a bitrate (Some players can not handle bitrates over 2500)
    5) PAL to NTSC conversion
    6) Improper IVTC
    7) Wrong field order (this generally depends on what software you use to encode, some use A and some use B)
    8) Total bitrate is too high (see #4, but this is combined audio and video bitrate exceeds 2500)
    9) Dirty pickup lens
    10) Cheap media
    11) Burned too fast, which results in less distinct pits in the dye, which results in more errors, which results in choppiness (try burning at 4x or 8x or getting better quality disks)
    12) Bad DVD Player (do they play on your PC?)
    13) Your cursed (perform an exorcism)

  6. First thanks I have been spanked well here but this how I did it...
Source MiniDV tape, captured via firewire (do different FWcards make a diff?) using Uleads VS7 for all capturing (typeII), editing and rendering.
Playback is on a Panasonic CP-72 which is rated for SVCDs.
My only goal is having DECENT results with VCD or SVCD sharing DECENTLY edited disks with family/friends of soccer games etc.
OK it does playback fine on the PC...AH HA a clue!
    There you go for starters.
    Thank You so far

  8. Well ...ahem since I am a newbie dip here I'm not sure what "Field Order" is or what it does. I did a quick search of all forums and found alot of techno babble about it with nothing pertaining to my current situaton.
