  1. An AVI that would be like 90MB ends up being over 200MB after converting to mpg with tmpgenc. Why is that? Can someone help me make the file size smaller? Is there any way to keep it the same size or just a big bigger cuz 200mb is a bit much and I would like the size to be smaller. Thanks

Do you want to make VCD,SVCD or DVD? Or do you just want it as mpeg and play on your computer?

  3. I want to burn it on vcd so I can watch it on my dvd player like I do with most stuff I download. I just dont really deal with AVI but I guess I have to if I want certain things.

If you want to maintain similar quality as the avi in the mpeg it's difficult not to increase the size since some avi files are highly compressed even though they look pretty good on the computer screen. If your DVD player supports it, you could cut back on the audio bitrate and that may help a bit with the size. You can lower the video bitrate too but you will have to decide how far to go before it becomes too distorted.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  6. Yes the AVIs im trying to convert are about 20/23 minutes in length. I dont even know how to lower the birate because I don't usually mess with I just reencode. The file size is way too big though I wanna be able to fit as many as possible on a cd.
