How to put Pictures onto DVD to view

I take a lot of pictures with my digital camera which I can put onto the computer or even onto my DVD Recorder (a Panasonic DMR-HS2). My question, is there software or some way on this DVD Recorder that I can take the pictures and put them into slide shows. Maybe into categories such as vacations, family, etc. And then go to any category, view pictures, play a slide show, etc. I'm not sure if this is even possible or maybe it is but just a straight slide show or so. Either way it's something I'm interested in even if I can't do all that I want but just display pictures. Thanks for any help.

There are many programs that let you do that.

I think some of the DVD editing programs have the feature as well.
