  1. Well, basically I'm trying to convert a lot of strongbad email SWFs to SVCD. I've been using flashants SWF2VIDEO to convert to avi, but the only framerate that is the proper speed while viewing is 12 fps. Using Avisynth, I've created the following script:

    #ASYNTHER Default (AVISource)
    AVISource("M:\Movies\strongbad email\1.avi")
    ConvertToYUY2()
    BilinearResize(352,480,0.33,0.33)
    Sharpen(0.5)
    ChangeFPS(23.976)
    ResampleAudio(44100)

    However, when I convert to MPEG2 with CCE 4-pass, the output video is much too blurry. Any suggestions on how I should change the script or maybe use another method? I've tried the QuickTime 6 method, but the resulting avi is too blurry as source material. I have about 70 of these SWFs varying in duration from 30 seconds to 2:30 minutes, so time is a definite factor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Having done several myself, I letterbox them. The bicubic resize is what's killing you. You simply can't blow them up and have them stay sharp.

    Also, don't do 23.97, it's not film. Convert it to 29.96. Don't forget the interlacing issues. Combine 12 fps of true data with a non interrlaced source and it's just not going to be pretty.

    However, they do ok as VCD's ( a non-interlaced format ).

    That seems like a few too many steps.

    Just save to AVI with Flashant's (no compression), edit with Virtualdub, then use TMPG to convert to SVCD/DVD (AVI vid source, wav audio source). I've done a couple of DVDs, and the quality is FANTASTIC.

    If you'd like, I could send you an episode to check out yourself (31 megs is the smallest).
