I was just wondering, if I opened up my dvd player, and colored the lens with a blue marker, would I be able to read blue-ray discs?

Yea that would work. And you can make a blu-rey burner by coloring the your cdr laser blue.

Or better yet, buy the blue DVD blank media, put in a 400 degree oven, guarantied to burn.

I used a black marker, and made mine a death ray player
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
You bet you can make a blu-ray player, I just did it, but I'm waiting for the glue to dry on my home made two-layer disks before I try it out.

HAHAHAHAHA! Death Ray. But really, some of the questions on here are ridiculous. Can I burn a DVD with my CD-Burner LOLZ??? I mean holy farking shite, you dont have to know anything about either format to understand this.

Come on guys get serious now!
A marker won't work very well. It will streak and be uneven you will get all kinds of skipping, misreads and such.
Here's what you do.
Get some of that blue demim clothes dye and mix up a bit. Dip the lens in it and you will get a nice even color. Just remember the longer you leave it in the darker the blue, so don't overdo it.
The beauty here (your gonna like this). If they ever change the color to green you just mix a batch of yellow dye and redip the lens. Voila! Instant green ray disk reader.
No thanks are needed. I'm just doing my bit to help you out.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway. -
Don't trust them, there is a way to read blue ray discs and also to burn them on a floppy disk :
follow the 4 easy steps :
1 - just open your burner and amzdkhg_y$ç_$
2 - then use a fdmslkufezrcvv
3 - aargh the blue ray of the death got me, i'm hurt i can't continue, heeeelp me.... -
do i have to use erasable marker for rewritable disc and permanent marker for cdrw?
-
hell save you some money here, while your at it, just open your CD-RW burner and color the laser blu, then throw in a 15 cent CD-R and burn 25 gigs of great looking video onto it. then open your standalone APEX DVD player up, color the lens blu and play it back. Shit why did I not think of this and beat Sony to the Patient office, crap could have been a zillion air.

Why not try this..
remove ur CDRW laser from ur CD Burner..
Plug in a Nuclear Powered battery pack as the power supply, get some blue food coloring and put it in the handle of a sword..
U will have a nice, big, blue ray jedi sword...
Or just turn on the power suply to full power and destroy planets.
