  1. Hi all. I am trying out the DVD Movie Factory 2 software before I buy it and of course it didn't take me long to hit a wall. I am trying to capture and burn a 2 minute test video in "best" DVD format ~DVD NTSC VBR(720X480),8000kbps~. Everything goes good until I start the capture and then I get these error messages:

V129:Invalid video aspect ratio/display horizontal size(720) combination for DVD, display size should be 540.
Can not set MPEG parameters error.

    Operation failed.
Press Ok to go back to the Start step.

    Thanks for any help

  5. What are the properties of your source video?

Have you right mouse clicked on that file in DVD MovieFactory 2?

That should tell you the basics about the file's properties.

It would be nice to know this information.

  6. Well, I have captured with 2 other programs that I've been using for some time and I'm getting some strange results with them too. I even did a restore back 4 days before I even thought about downloading MF2.

When I did my first capture/burn test DVD last night before the storms came through everything went great. But after the storms nothing has worked right so I'm starting to think my ATI AIW 7500 has taken some damage even though i unplugged everything before the storm got here.

    Take this for example:
I captured 2 minutes of a tv news cast with VDub to AVI format at 720X480 and I got some very choppy sound when played in VDub but plays just fine in windows media player. I have never had this problem before.

Then I captured 2 minutes of a tv news cast with VDub to AVI format at 352X240 and it played just fine in VDub and windows media player. But when I encode it to mpg2 with TMPGEnc it appears in the preview window at about half the size and the video is badly blocked when played on pc or desk top DVD player.

I don't think I've been this confused since I started playing with video. Any help would be great!

i had that prob, doesnt matter if yor defragged already. ITs the saving and deleting of huge video files on the hard disk(on NTFS). Try and seee if the defrag does it.

  8. Well you were right about needing to defrag.

I did a system restore to back before my last defrag so I wonder if that undid my last defrag?

But I'm still having the same problem.

Specialist, there is no file to look at, it just wont capture using MF2. I can use existing mpg2 files.

  9. Here's an update as to what I've been doing this morning.

I un-installed MF2 (trial), deleted all video files, defragged, used Registry First Aid, Registry Compactor, re-installed MF2, ran another capture to DVD test and got the same error message. So then I did the same test with Sonic's MYDVD and had no problems at all.

    Thanks again, Mark

  10. Now you've provided some additional information.

You were trying to use the DVD MovieFactory 2 software to capture video through an ATI All-In-Wonder 7500 board here, correct?

    http://mirror.ati.com/products/pc/aiwradeon7500/index.html

There are several patches on the DVD MovieFactory 2 Web page located here:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm

I would apply them and try again.

  11. My apologies, i assumed everyone would look at my computer details via the button provided above.

Thanks for patch link, i never thought to look for a patch for a trial version and because it worked fine the first time I tested it.

I'm downloading a patch now and will report back when I've installed and tried another test.

    Thanks again, Mark

  12. Same results
I tried every way possible to capture and I got the same error message each time.

If you need more info just ask for it.
I am wide open to any suggestions...

  13. Curious.

Are you capturing with the DIRECT SHOW MPEG driver?

You can tell by clicking on the CAPTURE icon, which activates the CAPTURE SCREEN.

Then click on the CAPTURE SETTINGS>CHANGE CAPTURE PLUG-IN.

Which plug-in do you observe there?

Is it the Ulead DSW MPEG Capture Plug-In?

  14. Now we're getting somewhere. The Ulead DSW MPEG capture plug-in is the one that gives the error message when I try to capture in DVD format. The same driver will let me capture in VCD and SVCD. I can't select MPEG at all, it just switches back to what is was before I selected it.

The Ulead DirectShow capture plug-in will only capture in AVI.

Is there a way to un-install the DSW MPEG driver and re-install it?

The thing I like about MF2 is that I can, if it worked right, record straight to DVD and bypass all the encoding and other stuff.

  15. Thanks for explaining all of that.

    Very odd.

I would recommend that you do other users of this board a big favor.

Register your Ulead software and then log in to the Ulead Web site to fill out the official tech support form:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/Suppform.htm

This form asks a lot of questions.

But it's worth it because it gets this information to Ulead to take a specific look at how the software works with your specific hardware board.

    Good luck,

  16. And start a long book in hopes of a reply from them. Their so called techs told me to use an outside encoder as the one that is in MF2 isn't that great at all. Ulead really needs to get their stuff together to be even taken slightly serious. I would steer clear of any Ulead product IMHO.

  17. Specialist, your suggesting I purchase this program and then I'm to HOPE I get some tech support

That's kinda like paying full price for a car with no drive train and hoping the dealer will install the drive train after you sign all those papers, at no additional cost.

  18. i would also steer clear of ulead junk. the programs have serious fundamental bugs. to make matters worse, you need to pay the ridiculous registration fee for their below average software just to hope to receieve technical support, which many people have reported to be almost non-existant. the least painful way to do this would be to abandon your ulead software and find a working replacement.
