  1. Please have a heart and don't flame me. I need help.

I've got this new machine and I would lke to be able to use it!

Using my ati tv wonder card I captured a football game (HUGE FILE) 11 + gigs in MPEG 1 because when I attempted to capture directly into MPEG 2 I got a choppy feedback.

So anyway, do I need to convert the file into MPEG 2 before shrinking and burning. I'm not even sure how to convert and compress the file.

Programs like DVD2ONE are wonderful for there easy of use. Is there anything like that for converting MPEG 1 files to MPEG 2 and then less than the 4.7 gigs required for nero or Dvdit?

Are CCE and TMPenc the best programs for reducing the file size to 4.7gigabytes so I can burn to dvd+r?

Is it really necessary to remove the audio stream? Aren't there any easier programs to use like DVD2ONE?

If you could manage to direct me I would be very happy.

    Thank You Please

  2. Hi,

    11 GB ?????
That is more like an avi capture.

CCE can't read mpg files only avi so if you have a mpg file you can use Tmpgenc or you have to convert to avi first. There is no one button click solution for this I think but using tmpgenc for converting files is not so difficult. It only takes a lot of time to encode stuff. Avi to mpg1 vcd is pretty fast but svcd takes longer and DVD takes a lot longer. There are some great guides on this forum wich explain these things. The biggest prob you maybe have is that Tempgenc will not accept the file.

    Good Luck,

    Thanks for responding.

I'm pretty sure I captured in MPEG-1. If It's MPEG-1 I'll need to convert to MPEG-2 before using Tempgenc to shrink the file?

I guess I've just got to figure out how convert MPEG-1 to MPEG-2 and then figure out Tempgenc. I'm attempting to convert to DVD so it could take a while. I heard CCE did encode MPEG-2 files but I guess I heard wrong.

If price was no object, and seeing that I'm mainly converting captured files to dvd, which software would be the fastest to encode/shrink the files with or without easy of use as a factor?

Again thanks for responding. Doesn't happen all that much these days.

You can put mpeg1 on a DVD, no need to convert. Read this: https://www.videohelp.com/vcddvdr.htm
