  2. I've been using this burner and it definitely CAN work under Win ME, but I also had probs due to the drive failing. My replacement is still working so far (touch wood)...

Can it play DVDs under Win ME, or does it not recognise any DVD format?

Make sure you are using a recent version of your burning software and see how you get on. Try using a few types of DVD-R/RW (though my drives have seen all the cheapo disks that I've tried them with).

Sorry I can't give you any more advice, but I would say hang on to your receipt because I'm not sure that this drive is the most reliable...

  4. Hi there,

I have been using Nero to burn - version 5.5.??? (can't remember - it's on my PC at home, but I'm using an update which I downloaded a few months ago). It seems to work fine, and it burns DVD-Rs at 2X, and I can get the disks to work on all the players I've tried so far, including PS2.

I think you can download a trial if you don't already have Nero, but there are other options - try the Author guides to the left, and good luck!!!

  5. cdfake - here's your answer...

I normally only pop a DVD-R into the drive when it's needed by Nero. But I put one in when running Windows Explorer last night, and Win ME did indeed see it as a 1.99GB audio disk. Strange. But then I loaded Nero and it went on to burn over 4GB of files to the disk, so no problem. This is just a strange quirk which doesn't affect the ability to write to the disks...
