After purchasing a new vcr with an auto-tracking feature all the old vhs tapes don't track automatically (commercial ones do) and when manually setting the tracking and capturing from self-taped (even with the new vcr) the frame drop rate is 200 out of 300 !!!!With commercial tapes the drop rate is around 10 frames or zero :S
Anyone know how to get the vcr to track old tapes properly.. since I have no interest in capturing commercial tapes.. or should I find an old vcr. The vcr I had before had no auto-tracking and it NEVER failed to play tapes (commercial & self-taped) properly. The tape tracking is normal when watching via television thoughBut when I connect the vcr via scart-composite out to my capture card the tracking is totally off..and I get it about right when manually adjusting, but the frame drop rate is awful.
Any ideas to why the vcr won't track ? Similar experiences ?
