--CCE Basic $58 2 pass vbr
--authored in DVDLab $79 or TMPGEnc DVD Author $68

dvd2svcd doesn't export subs for dvds yet
DVDLab still beta, imports chapters, only one audio track currently
TMPGEnc DVD Author doesn't import chapters

is mine better than yours...this question has been asked like 10 zillion times...however here is my insignificant opinion on this topic...Encoding will ALWAYS produce better quality than transcoding, and yes yes IC7 is a transcoder...it just is a hell of a lot better at it than dvd2one and dvdshrink because it bases it's estimates on the actual motion vectors of the origional video. HOWEVER, as the size of the origional video decreases, the amount of encoding is decreased and the difference becomes more negligible. So take your pick, roll the dice, and move on cuz there is nothing to see here.
