  1. So i have an avermedia tv tuner card, and i've been using PowerVCR II to record tv programs directly to DVD MPEG2. Once they're recorded, i can play back the .mpg files in any player and the audio is fine. However, once i try to author a dvd or demultiplex the file, the audio loses sync with the video to the tune of maybe 5-10 seconds per hour. It is a progressive loss, because apparently the audio portion of the .mpg file is actually shorter than the video portion, but plays back fine until demultiplexed.

I've used xmuxer, tmpgenc, and sonic foundry vegas 4 to demultiplex, and they all actually gave different, but incorrect results. I've tried to encode the mpeg to avi and back again using virtualdub(mpeg2 edition) and tmpgenc(which i know is far too time-consuming and lossy), which didn't work either. I've tried using .wav or .ac3 when authoring dvd, and neither worked. I have also tried to author the dvds with all of ulead dvd workshop, dvd architect, ifoedit, and maybe others, i don't remember.

So i'm not really sure from where this problem stems, but i've decided to try capturing with windvd recorder to see if that works. I would try capturing straight to avi with virtualdub, but i need the ability to schedule my recordings ahead of time, so if there's a program that can do that to avi, i would like to know about it.

    Thanks for any help.
