  1. At the moment I use Smart ripper, DvD2avi,tmpgenc,chapterxtract & VCDEasy to convert my dvds to vcd's, which works fine for . What I would like to know is, on movies that have the black bars at the top and bottom of the movies, is there a way to conver them to fill the whole screen ?

yes, but you would have to cut out about half of the movie.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

You would essentially be doing what the studios do when they release a movie in Full Screen. You cut off the sides of the film until the 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio becomes 1.33:1 (I think that's the full screen ratio). If you have never compared the same film in two ratios, you should. I was watching a movie on TV that I own on DVD, and paused the TV picture at a recognizable point (I have a TIVO digital video recorder). I then cued up the exact screen shot on my widescreen DVD, and flipped my Amp input between the TV and DVD to compare the differences. Even being totally aware of the butchering they have to do to make the movie full screen, I was still shocked at how much of the video gets lost in the converting.

That being said, I would be curious as to how the conversion could be accomplished
