I have several mpeg2 files with AC3 audio.

When I de-mux/re-mux with TMPEGEnc they play fine, but when I try to join them, TMPEGenc joins the video but ignors the audio.

Anyone have an answer for this?

    TMPEGenc Incompatible w/AC3?
    YES! Incompatible.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  3. Tmpegenc is not incompatable with AC3. While it true it wont encode it or with it, it will ReMux an m2v and ac3. Infact when you go into mpeg tools and click on simple multiplex the window has Video input, and Audio Input, and when you click the "..." Button to locate your Audio file one of the extensions listed under "File Types" is in fact .ac3
If you ac3 is not being accepted try running AC3Fix on it, or even AC3Delay Corrector but set the delay to 0 unless you wanna add delay, AC3Delay Corrector ReWrites the ac3 header and whatnot which has fixed afew ac3 files for me. For some reason the other day 2 or 3 files I made with BeSweet would'nt open in anything so I ran'em in Ac3delay corrector with the delay set to 0 it rewrote the headers, and wallah problem fixed.
    Hope it helps.

    Thanks you guys, for responding.

    Quigonsean, Good tip.

But I guess I wasn't elaberate enough in my post.
What I was saying was that muxing AC3 works fine with TMPEGEnc, but joining clips does not (re-read it). It joins the video but disgards the AC3 audio.

  5. Ahh, in that case I believe TXpharo is correct. I don't think it does do much with ac3 just muxing and thats about all.

TMPEG is compatible with ac3. I directly encode vob files, which contain ac3 audio, with TMPEG regularly.

Yes, but do you use the "Join Clips" feature with AC3?

Please read my original post b4 replying.

TMPG won't combine AC3 files. You need a standalone audio program for that. Try the usual trio BeSweet/GoldWave/HeadAC3.

ezVideoJoiner (Doeasier.org) can join mpeg files with ac3.
avi_mpeg_rm_joiner (Boilsoft.com) can join mpeg files with ac3 too.

I really do appriciate all the responses. However, it would be helpful if the original post was read b4 replying.

I'm not trying to combine AC3 files.
    I'm combining MPEG2 files with AC3 audio.

    Thanks for all the tips.

  11. TempGenc works fine with AC3!!!!

Just unselect "AVI2(OpenDML)FileReader" in the environmental settings of TempGenc.
You can now use your .avi file directly as audio source. Works perfectly and all the time!!!!!!!( so saving the audio with Vdub and converting to .wav is history).

    Greetings,

    Qeef.

Does this answer my original post about joining MPEG 2 FILES WITH AC3 AUDIO??

  14. I don't think Tmpenc will. I've never tried to use it to join mpeg files with AC3 but I have tried to use it to split mpeg files with AC3, and I get the same effect: it works on the video but loses the audio.

The program "Mpg-VCR" will join (and split) mpeg files with AC3.
