Need Help with MainConcept

I have played around a little with MC, mainly to see how it handles DivX and Xvid files. No problems there, which is good news.
Further, I am impressed by the encoding speed; way better than TMPGEnc.
Reading the posts in the forum I have seen comments about the resulting mpg file being particularly small, specially in comparison with CCE or TMPGEnc.
Well, please tell me what I am doing wrong, since the results I have gotten so far are about twice the size of CCE or TMPGEnc. (???)

For instance: encoding to DVD PAL:
TheSumsOfAllFears-cd1 (divx) 735Mb
using TMPGEnc will result in a mpg2 file 1100MB large
using MainConcept it will result in a mpg2 file of 2400MB.

What am I doing wrong?
