  1. Hi.
When I try to convert a divx to svcd in Tmpgenc I cant decide what I shall chose in the advance tab.
    I often chose 4:3 Pal 625 line.
    Full screen (keep aspect ratio)

When it starts to encode the film I use to look in the preview and wounder if it will look like that, or like the size in the "main-rendering-window"

The most important thing is that the film wont get stretched in any direction.

Are divx-fileīs in different formats/resolutions or?

Im not sure about the result before itīs burned to a dvd and I finally look at it in my stationary dvd.

    Any good answer to this?

With MPEG2, what you see in the preview screen is NOT what will appear on your TV...it will look stretched in the preview window. If you need reassurance that it will look OK on your TV then why not try just encoding a small clip and then watching the resulting MPEG file in a proper DVD software player such as PowerDVD or even with an MPEG2 player such as Videolan (find it in the tools section of this site)...do not use Windows Media Player as this too will play back MPEG2 stretched.

The above only applies to MPEG2 (DVD and SVCD)...MPEG1 (VCD) will look the same in the preview window as it will look on your TV, and will also play fine in WMP.

  3. Hi.
    Thanks
The reason I have not simply test it is because it take so long to convert a complete film.
But as you said i could have tested a small clip.
I was so sure about that the previw was the final look.

    Thanks again.

  4. If your file has borders 16:9

    No borders 4:3

NTSC and PAL depending on the frame rate - file info in virtual dub

In expert setting in tmpgenc choose keep aspect ratio. Always works for me.
    If it's wet, drink it
