q1. To copy (backup!) a DVD you can start here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php

q2. Yes. Do a search or look in the guides for how to.

q3. Take a disk with you and plug it in, or look in the Players section of this site.

q4. All the guides will give you a list of required software.

q5. Yes, they are encrypted but the software takes care of that.

    q6. I haven't heard that PS2's play divx, that's news to me.

    q7. Do a web search.

I think its the Xbox that can play DivX movies (chipped of course).

  4. PS2s play divx fine. chipped of course. There is a beta player out that does a relatively decent job. it maxes out at about 640X480 resolution and 1000 kbs. Also for some weird reason, it has trouble with some 29.937 fps files but 23.937 fps plays fine. My fps are off, but you catch my drift.. Of course more frames = more processing, but it is a bit of a pain to have to convert some files to 24 fps to watch on tv screen.

edited to add: The xbox probably does a better job of playing divx, since it comes with more processing power to boot, and is a mini-computer anyway.
