Hi all. I'm getting a bit confused here about video formats and I need some help. First off, I have looked at the glossary and other bits of info on the left side of the screen, but did not find what I was looking for there. I don't want to do any more coasters, so please advise me on just where I'm going wrong. I have 2 video files, one with the properties of "MPG" and the other with the properties listed as "MPEG". Last weekend I burned a DVD with the file that's identified as "MPG" and I got both picture and sound. Great! This weekend I tried to do a DVD with files that are identified as "MPEG" and I got video, but no sound. What exactly is the difference between the two types of files? I thought they were pretty much one in the same? If not, what program would be a good suggestion to use to help me with this problem? Currently I am using Nero Vision Express version 1.0.4.2. to burn my DVDs and I have a Verbatim DVD+RW/+R drive (computer actually recognizes at as an NEC DVD+RW ND-1000A). Any help is appreciated!

Not all mpegs are created equal. Mpegproperties is a program found in the Tools section. It will analyze mpg files and tell you the basic properties. If you're making a DVD then you need to make sure that your mpeg's are DVD compliant.
