    Hi all.

Been away for a loong while. And my computer's been idle too, and for so long that all of my equipment is now obsolete.

    Time sure flies...

Anyway, I have an old (now) AIW128 and recently I've started noticing horizontal bands across captured images. These bands vary from a few lines to about 1/10th of the height of the screen; they are ligther in color than whatever the image "behind" them is, and they either flash quickly all over the screen or scroll slowly up the screen.

I began chasing the problem and found that if I unplug all cables from my capture card, and display just a blank (black) video screen, the bands are still there - whitish bands on the black background.

The problem only appears on a video or tv window, whether I'm watching or capturing.... All other video functions, including games, handled by the card are working fine...

I have looked all over the net for tips on how to solve this, and have eliminated the obvious rf interference, power line interference, monitor refresh rates, and the like... heck I even switched the card between PCI slots.... Nothing worked.

So PLEASE someone tell me this isn't just my trusty AIW128 going old on me...

    Thanks for your help.

  2. What capture codec are you using?

Have you ever had this problem before?

Try a deinterlace filter in VirtualDub.

    Hi Guys,

Thanx for the questions. But the problem is not related to the codec (I capture with VDub and Huffy) or specifically to the process of capturing itself.

I get the problem when I capture, but I also get the problem when I simply WATCH either video or TV on any application (normally MMC7.1 or VDub).

Actually I get the problem when I simply watch a blank screen (with no video signal coming into the board).

I don't think I had this problem before. Last time I used the card was a few months ago. I've done plenty of SVCDs and CVDs with this card, and if the problem was there before it sure wasn't noticeable then...

I am more and more conviced that the card is dying, but I am hopeful somebody out there will say: "You dork! This is is obviously interference from the <<< fill in source here >>>.

    Thanks again!!!!
