I've saved a movie from Quicktime Pro to mp4 format and then opened it in VirtualDub. It opens but the picture is distorted. VirtualDub's File Information claims it's Divx Pro 5.0.2 format, which I guess is the problem.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    I'm using VDub 1.4.13, Quicktime 6.1

  2. If you still have the Quicktime source file and have Quicktime Pro 6, then use that to convert it to AVI and then open it in virtualdub, and from there you can work with it.

The problem with that is that I don't have a very wide range of codecs available when I export to AVI. Quicktime seems to have a fixed list of codecs. I'd love to be able to export to Divx or Hufyuv but I don't have that option.

If there's a way of enabling the codecs installed on my PC within Quicktime then that would be just as good.

  4. I too would love to be able to swap codecs from Quicktime to Video for Windows and vice versa, but I do not think that is possible. But if someone out there knows a way, please share.

My suggestion was actually that you use Quicktime to convert to uncompressed AVI (which I've done), then do whatever editing you want in Virtualdub, and then use Virtualdub to compress to your favorite compressed AVI codec. Of course, you'll need to make sure you have enough disc space for that uncompressed AVI file which will be huge.
