  1. Hi,
I have backed-up many DVD+/-R DVD movies using RecordNow DX using Ritek G03 DVD+R and -R DVD disks.
How can you tell what the actuall recording speed is in this program?
    Thanks

RecordNow is also my program of choice for burning DVDs. The only way I can tell the burn speed is the time remaining at the beginning of the burn. For example, if you're burning near capacity (i.e., 4,700,000 bytes) then 2x takes approximately 30 minutes. For me, when RecordNow initially starts burning it says 15 minutes or so remaining (which would be 4x) but in a few seconds jumps to 30 minutes or so. When I burn using a 1x DVD-RW disc this takes approximately 1 hour. I scale from there to approximate burn speed. For example, 2,350,000 bytes takes around 15 minutes at 2x and 30-minutes at 1x to burn. If there's a better way to tell burn speed in RecordNow I don't know and wish someone would tell me.

  3. rkr1958,
That's the same way I have been doing it. I thought there was a better way.
    Thanks

  4. I also found a similar issue (yet opposite) with Record Now MAX. I would tell it to record at 1X on some cheap Accu's I got because they would always default to 2X (which would coaster on my DRU500A.) When I started the burn in RecordNow Max, it would say 1x just as I selected. But within a minute, the time remaining would drop from an hour to 30minutes, and would give me a 2x burned coaster. I had to use Nero with these particular disks to do a 1x override.

I've had excellent luck burning with my DRU-500a Accu DVD-Rs at 2x using RecordNow. I've burned 100 with only 3 or 4 Coasters. These play very well in my Toshiba SD2800. Funny thought, I've had terrible luck with Fuji DVD+R 2x disc. I've read a few posts that suggest that others have burned these successfully with the DRU-500a. But the Accu DVD-Rs have been great; especially at $1 apiece compared to the $3 apiece I paid for 25 Fuji DVD+Rs.

  6. rx1958 you are right about recording speeds. I have the exact same results with my DRU500AX and RecordNow.
