I downloaded an MPEG which has subtitles on it and its not on the black part. There is no black part, the subtitles are on the video. How do I remove them?

Short answer is you can't. Those are not subtitles, they are part of the encoded video (that just happen to look like subtitles). It's like asking "I don't like cars, how to I remove all the cars from the video."
However, you can try the logoaway plugin for Virtual Dub. But it's going to be next to impossible to remove them. -
someone on the internet converted x-men 2 with subs and he converted MPEG1 to SVCD and then he removed the subs and sent me a sample. there are no other releases of X-men 2 so i believe that he did it. He said he did it with TMPEG but he said he forgot how he did it.

I am actually in the same dilemma. I think you can use TMPGEnc by clipping the frame. Obviously a letterbox/widescreen version with subtitles in the lower black portion would leave the picture untouched, but I assume then the overall picture would be lowered on the TV screen when watching. I haven't had time to attempt this yet, so I'm not sure...
Can anyone confrim this, or give better advice on how to remove subtitles from a downloaded mpeg?
Thanks

I don't have boarders on my movie. If you remove the bottom, remove the top too, it looks better...
I need to know how to do it with subs ON the video. there are no boarder lines
