Please post what make and model your DVD player is so we can give you better info on what to do. DVD players vary in capabilities so it is important to know which model you have.

There are no consumer-level DVD-Audio authoring applications available for the Mac, as far as I know. However, you can make a DVD-Video with a still and audio only, and use DVD Studio Pro/A.Pack to make a disc that will play in your DVD player.

This is essentially what commercial authors do to guarantee a DVD-Audio disc will play in every DVD player.

First off, your dvd player won't play mp3, so that option is out.

You ask if you can make a "dvd-audio" disk. From your post, I assume you mean a dvd with audio on it as opposed to a DVD-Audio disk which is a new, high qualty format for music that has multiple channels. I don't know anything about the DV-340 but the price listed in the players section to the left is to low for it to play DVD-Audio format disks.

I would doubt that your player would play any sort of music off of a dvd unless it was created as a dvd (just like a movie).

DVD Studio Pro is a high end $500 program for creating DVDs (used to be $1000 until last month) so since you're a newbie, that probable isn't an option either. So I guess the only thing left is cd with 74min (or 80) per. Sorry.

  7. but dvd studio pro (1.5) came with my computer, so that's no problem. so what i have to do is: make a dvd-video with just one still picture and all the audio in 48 khz PCM, is that correct? but is it hard to do with dvd studio?

Sorry, DVD Studio Pro is out of my league (I wish my computer came with it) but I have one more piece of advice. If you have DVD SP, convert your audio to ac3, it will take up much less room than PCM and you will get a lot more music on that disk. Good luck.

The still would have to be encoded as an MPEG-2 file and I think it has to be 2 or more frames long, but I think Quicktime Pro with the MPEG-2 encoder that comes with DVDSP will do that for you.
