  1. I get very frustrated using TMPGEnc (2.5 Plus).. I can never figure out what the problem is.. It may be me that's the problem but i swear -- one minute it accepts avi files and rejects it the next ('unsupported'). it's like the damned thing is 'alive' and is just plain f'g w/you and laughing its arse off while doing so..

Can someone PLEEEASE explain how to work or manipulate TMPG in order to get it working properly/consistently??

For example, i was trying to demux an avi file and it kept rejecting the file ('invalid mpeg format' or something like that..). I could have sworn i've done this before successfully several times.. Other times, i've tried importing mpg/2 files to re-encode and i get an 'unsupported' error.. I've tried re-prioritizing in the 'environmental' setting to no avail...

Again, it might be the 'user' (me.. but i see many posts addressing tmpg problems. Thanks!

    Sounds like user error. :P
You cannot use MPEG Tools on an AVI file.
I suggest reading some more of the guides on this site.
No manipulation needed. This software is easy to use.

  3. Hi jbenj01,

First, You can't de-multiplex a .AVI file using TMPGEnc, that's as far as I know. You can use vdub and frame serve to TMPGEnc, create a .M2V file and Multiplex audio and video.

Second, You can re-encode MPG-1 not MPG-2. I don't know the reason for this , but to re-encode MPG-2 you have to de-multiplex and use the .M2V file with other tools to frame server to your encoder......e.j. DVD2AVI--->VFAPI ----> TMPGEnc, AVISYNTH ----> TMPGEnc.

    Some Day I will…..

  4. Sorry for the first part, it is not truth.

You can encode .AVI direct in to TMPGEnc, but if you want to separete audio and video you have to use a tool like VDUB
