  1. I just purchases the ND-1100A DVD+R/W burner and am having problems getting a successful burn.

    I have tried with the Veritas RecordNow and the latest version of Nero (with all the updates).

    I am using 2.4x FujiFilm DVD+R/W media.

    Nero Attempts:
    =====================
    Nero appears to work and says that it successfully burns the CD, but when I put the disc back in the computer (or another computer) it appears that there is no data on the disc and WindowsXP reports the File System as “Unknown”.

    When I try to erase the drive, Nero doesn’t recognize this disc and says it can’t erase it.

    RecordNow Attempts:
    =====================
    When I try to record with RecordNow, it fails at the beginning with this error:

    Error -10 at Sector 0 - Command:5D Sense:05 ASC:26 ASCQ:00

    If I try to Erase the disc with RecordNow, it fails with an error saying it doesn’t contain an erasable disc

    I have so far burned 5 DVD all with these results.

    Thanks for the help,

  3. If you got your drive from Dell (firmware 108B) you should update the firmware to 10GE: ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/R59801.EXE.

  4. With RecordNow Max if you are burning a Movie it checks to make sure all the files are compliant. If they are not, it will not burn and give you an error. Also make sure you are burning it in DATA mode.

    Nero is just a piece of sh_t they need to improve it and stop using their customers as beta testers.

    If you have a friend with a DVD+RW drive give him a disc to test, who knows you might have bad media.

    I suggest you return that drive quickly because it is one of the most horrible DVD writers around. I have about 5 out of 20 PERMANENTLY damaged DVD+RW disks that will no longer be read and the NEC1100A can't re-write or erase it. The drive CONSTANTLY freezes up and won't eject unless you reboot the entire computer. STAY AWAY FROM THE NEC1100A!!!!!!!!!!!

    As I wrote, if you have the Dell version update your firmware which should fix the rewriting problems.
    The retail/bulk version does not have any of these problems at all.

    updated the firmware about a week ago, and i already have a damaged disk that cannot be erased or written on. It's not the upgrade, it's the NEC drive itself. HORRIBLE drive.
