  2. I got this burner about a month ago and it ROCKS! HD-Burn works sweet, but you must use good discs. I use with TDK and it works fine. Nero 6 is perfect for it. I didn't even bother to load the crap software that it came with. As for burning DVD's, I have no problems whatsoever. Using Nero, and Ulead DVD movie factory 2.0... Haven't tried the new DVDXCopy, but my uncle has and he has the same burner and e said it works fine...even burns chapters and menus. Well, to make a long story short, I got this burner from www.newegg.com for 129.00 and it works KILLER! I would reccomend to anyone!

I recently sold an Optorite DD0203 and used that money towards the purchase of a Pioneer 106D. I would highly recommend that you go in the same direction.

If you purchase high-quality 4x DVD+R disks, you will be happy with the Optorite. If you ever want to be able to record to cheaper DVD-R media, then buy the Pioneer. Right now, the price difference is about $20, and I would definitely say that is worth the difference.

Fantastic piece of equipment and the HD-BURN feature is GREAT. You can backup a whole lot of data on inexpensive CDs.

First think you would do would be to go to the Optorite site and download and install the latest driver, which I see that I need to do. It has expanded the CDs and DVDs enormously.

For media, for standard CD burning, anything will do, but for HD-BURN support, I stay with my favorite, which was my favorite before, the Fuji film, which is made by Taiyo Yuden. As far as cost goes, Office Max has a sale on now for all Fujifilm media and a 50 pack of these Fuji(TYs) cost 9.99.

Oh yes, for the heck of it, I got two cheap Compusa DVD+Rs and they both worked fine on it. Being how cheap they are, the data will probably go away in about a year.

I burn regularly at 4X with TDK +R and at 4X with Fujifilm DVD-R. The TDK and the Fujifilm media I have gotten on sale at Best Buy, Staples, Office Max. Very, very reasonible prices on high quality media.

I use Nero 6 and the B's Recorder Gold which comes with it with no problems. That B's Recorder Gold is awfully good and they have a new version. Both do HD-BURN.

It is simply the best buy on the market today, they have upgraded their drivers at a steady pace which has continually improved their product.

Oh yes, I was at their web site and, and, they now have a DD401, which can do the 8x speed thing.

I like the people their as well. A few drivers ago, I got some CDs which became coasters with the HD-BURN thing. They sent me some TY CDs to replace them. They even listened to stupid me and put in some UPC barcodes that I sent them so the media can be identified before purchased. There are some real cheepy Fujifilm CDs around in a light blue package to stay away from.

Their site is here : http://www.optorite.com/support.htm

I also have used DVDXCopy with no problems until the demo wore out. That software was not my cup of tea.

I have used the Intervideo's DVD Copy Platinum which I returned. Not because of the unit, but because their Divx processing is awful. To me it is like a beta release.

DVD Decrypter works great with it. Between DVD Shrink, Nero and B's Gold, Fujifilm and TDK, I am pretty much set. I also used some 4x DVD+R Verbatim DVDs which worked fine at 4X.

The DD203 is made by Accesstek and you can get support from their web site as well. Accesstek uses a Sanyo engine in it and the HD-BURN software which I hope spreads, is also from Sanyo.
Optorite is the distributor of the DD203.

I believe they will be out with HD-BURN on a DVD which will be amazing.

We can let those big brand namers spend the big bucks. It will be our secret !! It is really great to see people continually improve their product.

    It's a steal !!
