Finally decided to upgrade to XP and have now found that the ATI MMC is the only program on my system that will capture sound. I tried IU-VCR and Virtual Dub and though the capture file seems to say that they are recording audio, a check of the audio section of the AVI shows that they did not. I've tried to adjust things in Control Panel, to no avail. Weirdly enough, MMC 7.5/7.6 works just fine. I would like to be able to cap in AVI, now that I got VDub to work again. Any help appreciated.

The hardware worked fine under Win 98SE...

  2. Silly suggestion I guess, but did you see any updates at Creative's site for your soundcard,(eg: driver & or sound recorder program updates/patches for XP). Only a thought, I might be on the wrong track, at least it'll refresh the post again!
    Hope you sort it out!

No sound in the capture. Virtual Dub shows sound being recorded BUT when saved, the file has NO audio. I am able to cap with audio in the ATI MMC 7.5/7.6. I can't upgrade to the newer versions without numerous headaches. The soundcard drivers have not been updated since it's considered "legacy" equipment. XP is a fun animal to work with, isn't it?

Found out that on my comp, I need the Record Master setting checked instead of the Line IN or Aux IN for the audio to be recorded in Virtual Dub. Works fine now. Thanks for the suggestions...
