First, is there any way to increase the size of the output files? PowerVCR always breaks them into 600 meg chunks, which comes to around 13 minutes. Which means that every 13 minutes there's a jump in my video because PowerVCR loses some frames while it closes one file and opens another. I used to use WinDVR which allowed for files as big as Windows could handle, that is, 4 GB. But I had other issues with it and aside from that PowerVCR works much better for me. So is there any way to force PowerVCR to use files that size? I found a registry key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CyberLink\PowerVCR II called MaxRecSizeMB which was set to 600, that sounded promising to me so I changed it to 4000, but it didn't make any difference, I still ended up with 600 meg segments. So, anyone have any ideas?

Second, and this may sound like a real newbie question, but how do I adjust the sound level for my captured video? It all ends up super-loud. I have a cable going from the right/left audio outputs on my DirecTV box to the line-in port on my sound card. I've tried adjusting the line-in level in the volume control panel, but even if I put it nearly all the way down the resulting volume is still blasting. It really doesn't seem to make any difference at all. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Change the registry setting for max file size under Current user/softeware/pvcr etc instead. I'm not sure about the line in volume , try the other audio volume settings.

Ah, of course. That did it! Thanks! I guess I'll just have to live with the volume.

Connect the sound output of your tvbox to LINE IN of your capture card and LINE OUT of the capture card to LINE IN of the soundcard. Not sure if it'll work, but no harm trying.

My capture card is built into my video card, and doesn't have its own audio inputs. It uses the sound card exclusively. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

When you say you have adjusted the volume......
Where do you mean ??? Thru the software or thru your OS's settings?
If you have just changed it on the PowerVCR panel it will make no difference that will only turn the master volume down.

I have used this software through 3 motherboards and 5 soundcards.
If you are using onboard sound I have found that it doesn't regulate the sound properly.
My present card "Audigy" works great with this software.

    That rings a bell

I had a sound card that muted PowerVCR2 and there was nothing I could do about it. Think it was the Fortissimo III which is also a Hercules card.
I contacted both hercules and cyberlink with no success sorry.
You need to try another software private message me I may be able to help.
