  1. I recently created an SVCD, and made it into a .BIN file, with .cue it had chapters, etc etc etc...and I accidently deleted the images, BUT I did burn the Images, now here is my question, can I create another Image of the SVCD through my drive using some program...is it possible to extract everything from the svcd and make it into a .bin file...I have NTI CD Maker Professional edition, and it has an option of creating an Image file but I don't know if using it would be such a good idea..help would be greatly appreciated...if you would like for me to elaborate please specify...I used VCD Easy to burn...

VCDEasy provides a front-end to cdrdao that can create a bin/cue set from a CD. VCDEasy also provides a front-end to vcdxrip which can extract the original files plus an XML file that can recreate the image, if you want to get the source files back. I think both are somewhere in the Tools screen, I don't remember the exact labels though - if you just read through the tabs and buttons you'll find it, it's pretty obvious.

If you just want to copy the SVCDs you can use just about any CD copying program instead.

  3. If you want to make another CUE/BIN file of your burnt discs -- CDRWin is your proggy. You can get the free demo at http://www.goldenhawk.com and the demo is fully function with respects to making a CUE/BIN image of an existing disc.

If you want to extract the image into the component media files with the XML descriptor, you can create the CUE/BIN image first and then use VCDXRIP on the image.

Alternatively, you can use lkVCDxRIP directly on the SVCD in your CD drive (recommended) as long as you have a functioning ASPI layer.

You can use GNU VCDImager Tools GUI ( http://www.michaeltam.com/vcdimager_tools_gui.html ) to easily use both VCDXRIP and lkVCDxRIP.

  4. I was looking around and CDRWin came up, and I installed it and everything but it seemed to NOT recognize my drive, as someone suggested, look in the Tools Tab, I was looking around, and both of them ask for a .XML file which I don't have...could you explain me or point me as to how to create .BIN/CUE files of SVCD's from my Drive...cuz I'm confused as to how this works...help would be very appreciated...

P.S: I also downloaded IKVCDxRip and it also doesn't seem to be working...I click the .exe file and nothing happens...?

  5. With CDRWin, it should work. Just click on the icon that states "Extract Disc/Tracks/Sectors".

Then change your CD reader to the appropriate one, set the image name and click "START".

If it can't detect your drive, you may have an ASPI layer problem. If so, make sure you download and install one of the ASPI layers here: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides/aspilayer.html and then reboot.

If you want to use lkVCDxRIP, you should use GNU VCDImager Tools GUI from the link about. If you just download lkVCDxRIP, this is a command console tool: http://www.michaeltam.com/vcdimager_tools_gui.html

  7. Bummer...

    Does Nero work for you?

Have Nero extract a NRG image of your SVCD and you can use VCDXRIP on it the same way as a CUE/BIN image!

BTW, have you tried using lkVCDxRIP? If your ASPI layer is working, it can directly "rip" your S/VCD to the component media files and XML descriptor file...

  9. Dude, read my previous post...

If you want to use lkVCDxRIP, you should use GNU VCDImager Tools GUI from the link about. If you just download lkVCDxRIP, this is a command console tool: http://www.michaeltam.com/vcdimager_tools_gui.html
lkVCDxRIP is a command console app. If you double clip on it, it will do exactly as you described... Use GNU VCDImager Tools GUI. It will save your sanity if you aren't used to using the command console.

With Nero, when you load it (don't use the wizard) and it asks you for a new compilation, choose CD Copy. In the options, don't set it to write/burn so it justs makes an image of the disc on the HDD (note I haven't actually tried this myself as I have never had to).

  10. I installed the package and Clicked on IKVCDxRip and it seems that it generates .XML files and rips out the Mpeg Stream...what I am actually talking about is directly creating an SVCD Image on my Hardrive directly from the CD Drive...I hope you understand what I am saying...
(creating an entire SVCD Cd-R on my hardrive in Image format, with all the folders etc)
