  1. I used VOBedit and IFOedit to join both sides of Das Boot flipper. Then used DVD2ONE to encode down. Have tried it twice, but it will only get the file to size down to 4.8 GB.

What I did next was to take that 4.8 GB file from DVD2ONE and run it through level 1 with DVDShrink and finally got it down small enough to burn on one DVD-R. Doesn't look too bad either.

Any one know why DVD2ONE wouldn't do it?

I think i was using 1.12 at the time but I had no problems with Das Boot.
I also used IFOedit and vobedit. I only the English soundtrack though.

  3. I also used version 1.12, as well as VOBedit and Ifoedit. Tried twice and both times got a 4.8 GB file. As noted above, I finally got the file down by running it through DVDShrink. I wonder if there's a bug in DVD2One or what?

I use 4450MB as output size. I have never had any movie come out to big.
Are you also only doing the movie and English soundtrack?

  5. Yes, I used only the movie and main soundtrack. I have never had this problem with any film other than Das Boot.

  6. When you say you tried twice, do you mean that you tried the whole process twice, or that you put the output of DVD2ONE through DVD2ONE again? I ask because this is what I did with Starship Troopers. It was a flipper, and I had terrible trouble copying it, after re-joing the vobs and going through DVD2ONE I had an output of 4.8 too ( as I remember ). I just put it through DVD2ONE again, came out right size 2nd time. Essentially the same as you did with shrink, but got the correct size whereas you probably had to make do with what shrink offered you.

I did the whole process twice. It never occurred to me to run it through DVD2One twice.
