i've updated the soundcard drivers, capture card drivers, mobo drivers (4n1), still nothing...anyone?

I just had a look at the Data Sheet for the AVerTV card - it's not obvious where it's drawing the sound from. Is it plugged into your sound card via a cable running from the TV card to Sound card?
If so it's probably recording the sound through the 'Line-in' on the sound card - check the volume level on the 'Line In'.
It may seem obvious but it needs to be mentioned. -
yes it's connected externally to the sound card through line in....oddly i was browsing reader reviews and found my answer.. a fellow had basically the same problem and was told somewhere the card has issues with certain soundcards and to use the mic jack instead....it works fine this way
