  1. FYI!!! Help!!!
Many of us using Video Deluxe 2.0 are having problems importing MPEG2 files greater than 2GB? Even when using Win 2K or XP.
Magix's Tech-Support says they are looking into the problem. This may take months for a patch to come out.

I mean the program seems to be importing normally, but the video is unusable.
Everything looks fine until the import completes. The resulting clip is a little black & grey block about 2sec. long. The properties reports a clip length: 00:00:00.
This problem prevents us from editing a captured file greater than 1 hour at a high res.
So at this point it's almost useless.
The only work around we found is to capture and import (30 – 45 min) several files less than 2GB. This sucks!
What are, if any a quick and uncomplicated program for spilt up the captured files greater than 2GB, without having to encode or changing it’s characteristics other than file size.

Don't get me wrong. This is a great editing program anyway!!

    Thank you!

You need W2K/XP and NTFS file system. FAT16 or FAT32 won't do it. FAT drives have a limit of 2GB or 4GB depending on variety of things.

  3. We are using NTFS file system. We are able watch these large files in MMC, MS Player, WinDVD or PwrDVD. It is only an importing problem with Video Deluxe 2.0 software. Until a new patch to come out.

Is there, if any a quick and uncomplicated program for spilt up the captured files greater than 2GB, without having to encode or changing it’s characteristics other than file size?

FAT32 has a 4 GB file size limit. W98SE with FAT32 has a know problem copying files > 2 GB. You have to copy them in DOS. However, this problem doesn't exist in Win2000 / WinXP.

  6. I am also the guy who now has a 3.5GB file after last nights
capture of the Enterprise episodes. I used MMC 7.7 DVD presettings to capture this. I had no frame drop. The raw video looks very good!

For Video Deluxe 2.0, I will need to spilt up the raw video into smaller files sizes.
    Next question
Will TMPGEnc change the raw video characteristic using File-Mpeg tools, Merge and Cut tab? Other than files sizes?

Also should I encode this show in widescreen or not for SVCD?

Did you capture direct to mpeg. If so TmpGenc is the tool to cut and it should not change anything in the video. If you captured to avi, use virtualdub to cut.
