    How long do you think they will become more common?

  2. Hopefully soon. Previously Mitsubishi has been the only manufacturer of them but Ricoh has also started production now (well actually I think they are produced by Ritek but with Ricoh's mfr ID and possibly dye technology). Also Taiyo Yuden has started manufacturing of 4x DVD+R media and Sony and Maxell have or will soon do the same.

  3. I bought 15 of the TDK 4X DVD+R tonight from CompUSA for $11.99 for a pack of five. Also Verbaim 4X DVD+R has been avalible from BestBuy for a long time now.

    Extremely soon. I was talking to a local importer who said some manufacturers (he was not specific on which ones, and I was in a hurry) have already stopped making 1X and 2X media and will only be producing 4X (and up as demand requires). Present situation for them is that they are clearing 2X and 1X stocks, which is why 1X/2X is still on shelves.

    Now whether the 4X media will actually burn at 4X or 2X is a different story altogether.
