I have a new Sony laptop -- stats should be in profile....
I want to put several 8mm (not digital) movies onto a DVD.
What is the easiest way?
I have heard that I can use a digital camera with passthrough capabilities will work. If so, which model? Will a Sony TRV350 work?
Or what do you recommend?
All suggestions welcome
thanks in advance
Judy

I would reccomend the Canopus ADVC-50, but since you're using a laptop I would have to go with the Canopus ADVC-100, it is a box with analog inputs and it converts the analog video to a digital signal then passes it to your computer through a Firewire port. I have only used the ADVC-50 wich has given me great results, but I have heard lots of good things about the ADVC-100 as well.

If you are amateur and you are planning to upgrade your camcorder, DV camcorder with pasthrough and analog inputs will do same thing. You will save $300 buck toward better camcorder. If you are doing this profesionaly, then you should go with somethink like ADVC-100 that is designed and made just for that purpose.

If I get the Canopus ... will it also work on transfer VHS to DVD -- and if so, do I run it through the VCR?
thanks
