  1. I do my capturing on an external freecom hard disc with a firewire interface. The hard disc in this kit is a plain, of the shelf (maxtor), hard disc and runs on 5400 rpm

    I never experienced any dropped frames so I dare to declare that 5400 rpm is more than sufficient for capturing.

    It contains a little utility that will test drive write speeds. It may suprise you.
    Any idea what menu item that's under? I wanted to try my external drives to see if, now that I have my firewire interface a little more stable, if it would be worth trying to hook up my Canopus again. Being able to run a test rather than doing a number of connections and then finding out it works (or doesn't) seems like a good thing.
